Ok, just to be clear, I don't really like turkey burgers.
And the reason I don't like turkey burgers, is because they usually taste like saw dust.
You know, dry, plain, flat, tasteless burgers. But these juicy delicious turkey burgers are different.
They have flavor. They are moist. They have taste. Good taste! And they are so easy to make.
So, here you go, a juicy delicious turkey burger recipe!
-1 lb of ground turkey meat
-1/4 lb of smoked gouda cheese
-1 med size zucchini
-1 small size yellow onion
-2 tbsp whole milk ricotta cheese
-1/2 cup of gluten free bread crumbs
-1 cup of mayo
-1/4 cup of ketchup
-2 tbsp dijon mustard
-2 tbsp of horse radish
-1 tbsp of smoked paprika
-4 Brioche buns
-2 tbsp butter
-2 tbsp of olive oil
-2 cups of arugula
-1/2 tsp pepper
-1/2 tsp pink himalayan sea salt
1-In a bowl combine the ketchup, mayo, dijon, horse radish & smoked paprika and mix well.
1-Using a grating box, grate the entire zucchini.
2-Dice the onion.
3-In a pan, in the olive oil, saute the onion & the zucchini over med high heat for 10 minutes or until the onions start to caramelize.
4-Remove the onion & zucchini from the pan & add into a bowl with the turkey, ricotta, egg, bread crumbs, himalayan sea salt & pepper and mix well together.
5-Form the turkey mixture from the bowl into 4 even sized patties.
NOTE: The patties may seem very soft, but not to worry, they will firm up as they cook.
6-Spray the bottom of a frying pan with cooking spray & add the patties into the pan over high heat, only allowing them to sear slightly on both sides and then lower the heat to cook the patties through (usually 10-15 minutes)
7-When patties have reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees melt slices of smoked gouda onto the patties.
8-Lightly butter both sides of the brioche buns and toast in a seperate frying pan for 30 seconds over high heat.
9-Serve these juicy delicious turkey burgers on the toasted brioche buns topped with the arugula & drizzled with the sauce.
10- Add a side order of tater tots.
